The rain hasn´t stopped.  I  felt like staying in bed, but need to teach an eight o´clock class this morning.  It is going to be a long, long day.  I wished I had more time to focus on my travel, but it will have to be done on the plane, I guess.

I know that my pictures of sunshine and the beach don´t quite seem to match with the title of this blog, but I wanted to show the whole process of this trip.

After my separation, I have  been reinventing my life all the time. I was in Spain, Jerez de la Frontera, in 2002 for three months. My initial intention had been to stay there for a year, but I missed Brazil a lot and decided to come back.  I always tell people that the best part of my trip to Spain was the preparation for it. Jerez is a beautiful place, but I had an unbeatable happy life in Aracaju, Brazil.  When you know you are leaving a place, you enjoy the most of it and only see the good side of things. I think it is like been given a chance to say good bye to everything in life before dying. The feeling is somewhat like that  That was a lesson that I bring until today to my life.  Most people complain about things, ignoring how much worse things could be.  My trip to Spain has definitely taught me how to live well.

So, after moving here and there I ended up in Belo Horizonte, Brazil.  I knew I didn´t have anything to do with the life I was living in that city.  I can´t even say the city or the neighborhood, but the life style. The transportation was terrible, and I lived far away from everything, so I had to be locked in the apartment basically every day.  I didn´t have a car or lots of money to hire a cab to take me to places.   I cried many nights in that place until I decided I didn´t want to spend the rest of my life there.

I, then, sold all my things to a student from São Paulo who was going to live in that city. I knew I wanted to come back to Santos, but was lacking some life in my life.

I decided to go to Buenos Aires after a vacation there and there I went.  I lived in a hostel there, Che Lagarto, for two years, from 2007 to 2009.  There is a book waiting for me to write about that experience. My room had a capacity for 17 people. Yes, seventeen people! It was quite an experience and what made me survive was my experience of my trip to Spain. Nothing can be so bad that it can´t be worse.
So, I´m really happy to be back in Santos now, and enjoy every moment of it. Rain or sunshine!

I came across Pfefferbett hostel after searching a bit about the best hostels in Berlin. I meant best in all aspects, location, accommodation, hygiene and atmosphere. Will write more about it later on.  I need to go now.
