Sorry for having taken this long break, but took a short trip two weeks ago to Argentina and Chile. It was just a five=day trip, but got a little tired and needed to focus a little more on my classes. This shall be another journal!
BUDAPEST!!
I arrived in Budapest at 6:35 p.m. and was eagerly looking for Judit and Illldiko, but could not see them.
At first, I couldn´t believe it, since we had been in contact all the time and talking about my arrival there. However, I then remembered I hadn´t been in contact the day I was in Prague. Had something happened? I asked myself. I tried to keep calm. Those approximately ten minutes I stood looking for them seemed like eternity, as I didn´t even know what to think. I then started thinking the worst, that they might have had a problem and couldn´t contact me.
I stopped in the middle of the station and tears started to roll down my face. A woman and apparently her mother came to ask me what was wrong. I couldn´t even speak straight, but then was able to tell them that my friends who were supposed to have met me at the station hadn´t showed up. I did tell them that I would be ok and they wished me well.and then left. I will never forget that compassionate look of that young woman. Would love to thank her personally. Thank you, miss, anyway. You were very kind.
I then decided to talk to two police officers. I asked them if they could speak English and they looked puzzled and said no. I then tried with international words: Internet? Telephone? They understood me, then.
By that exact time I saw Judit with her Brazilian t-shirt on, looking sorto f pale and with a worried look on her face. We hugged each other, took some pictures and she explained to me that the station had made a mistake on the train timetable. She said she had been there for almost an hour already. I was so very happy to see her!
We then went to the taxi stop. I couldn´t understand a word, of course, but noticed they were trying to give her a tourist price for the ride. They started shouting until one of them seemed kind and honest and offered to take us for a fair price.
We soon forgot about the taxi deal as we arrived in their lovely place. Ildiko had been cooking something typical Hungarian for my welcome little party. That was really nice. Thanks again Illdiko and thank you very much Judit for picking me up at the station.
The meal was delicious and so were all the beers I tasted. Thanks again for all the presents, all typical things from Hungary. I´m still waiting for a special occasion to drink the wine.
I had also brought them lots of little presents and they were really excited about tat, too. They quickly took some pictures to show their friends and family. They asked me how I had managed to carry all that. Don´t ask me either. I had three liters of cachaça, the ever clear drink from Brazil, two cans of Brahma, three kilos of coffee, among other things. Phew!
They offered me their own bedroon to stay more comfortable, they said. The living room would have been more than ok. Thank you again! The feeling was that I had arrived in grandma´s house after a long time.
It was cold for me, something like 20 degrees, but apparently Judit wasn´t cold!
It was a very nice and relaxing evening, specially after travelling for so long, having taken a warm shower and be enjoying a delicious meal with all kinds of beer with some good friends. Unforgettable moments!!
